The Forty-eighth Beast.
The beast has become arboreal, with inward-facing claws adapted for grasping and climbing. Its forearms have developed a rough scaling to provide grip against rough surfaces and its hind feet have split in two. (I realize we’ve done something kinda similar before, but the legs didn’t have bones back then.)
